The book clearly shows that what the Darkling does is unacceptable no matter how mind bendingly handsome/hot/sexy/gorgeous he is. ![]() ![]() Leigh Bardugo doesn’t pull out a crap redemption arc or accept his abuse of Alina so that they can be endgame. We see how Alina is attracted to him but (but) she still knows what he does is wrong. The reason why I can like characters like The Darkling or Maven Calore and not Rowan/Tamlin/Rhysand etc or Patch from Hush Hush or even Edward is because the NARRATIVE DOESN’T ROMANTICISE THEM.
